چکیده

We discuss radio observations of a sample of radio-weak and radio-intermediate quasars which demonstrate that { just like their radio-loud counterparts { radio-weak quasars too have relativistic jets in their nuclei. Moreover, a VLA survey of nearby LINER galaxies reveals a relatively large number of at-spectrum radio cores. It is suggested that those cores are also best explained by moderately relativistic jets (2) produced by a central engine.

Relativistic Jets in Radio-Weak Quasars and LINER Galaxies

We discuss radio observations of a sample of radio-weak and radio-intermediate quasars which demonstrate that – just like their radio-loud counterparts – radioweak quasars too have relativistic jets in their nuclei. Moreover, a VLA survey of nearby LINER galaxies reveals a relatively large number of flat-spectrum radio cores. It is suggested that those cores are also best explained by moderatel...

EVN+MERLIN Observations of Radio-Intermediate Quasars: Evidence for Boosted Radio-Weak Quasars

We present VLBI (EVN+MERLIN) observations of a sample of three low-redshift radio-intermediate PG quasars (RIQ) with at and variable radio spectrum (III Zw 2, PG 1309+355, PG 2209+184). Their radio-to-optical ux ratio (R) is slightly lower than the average R for steep-spectrum quasars, but their radio spectral properties are those of core-dominated quasars. It was proposed previously that these...

The jet-disk symbiosis I. Radio to X-ray emission models for quasars

Starting from the assumption that radio jets and accretion disks are symbiotic features present in radio loud and radio quiet quasars we scale the bulk power of radio jets with the accretion power by adding massand energy conservation of the whole jet-disk system to the standard Blandford & Königl theory for compact radio cores. The jet is described as a conically expanding plasma with maximal ...

Radio-Variability in Radio-Quiet Quasars and Low-Luminosity AGN

We report on two surveys of radio-weak AGN to look for radio variability. We find significant variability with an RMS of 10-20% on a timescale of months in radio-quiet and radio-intermediate quasars. This exceeds the variability of radio cores in radio-loud quasars (excluding blazars), which vary only on a few percent level. The variability in radio-quiet quasars confirms that the radio emissio...

The Nature of Radio-Intermediate Quasars: What is Radio-Loud and what is Radio-Quiet?

We have performed quasi-simultaneous radio flux density measurements at 2.7 and 10 GHz for all PG quasars with radio flux densities between 4-200 mJy. We find that a large fraction of these sources are variable, flat-spectrum quasars. This brings the total fraction of flat-spectrum quasars with a ratio between radio and optical flux of R > 10 — a value previously used to define a radio-loud qua...
